本文报告了对Westerlund 1超级星团进行首次光学变性研究，以寻找明亮双星系统。共识别出129个新变星，其中包括4个星团成员的易位双星、1个额外候选、8个场域双星、19个场域δ Scuti星、3个场域W UMa易位双星、13个其他周期变星和81个长周期或非周期变星。这些包括已知的亮蓝变星、B[e]星、11个温星、多个超新星以及其他可能为Westerlund 1成员的被掩埋星。与温星WR77o (B)相关的明亮X射线源发现为3.51日周期的易位双星。发现的被掩埋分离式易位双星系统意味着首次确认了Westerlund 1中的主序星。
