ASACUSA反氢探测器的升级

摘要

CERN反质子减速器上ASACUSA(利用慢反质子进行原子光谱与碰撞研究)CUSP实验的目标是衡量反氢的基态超精细分裂,以检验CPT不变性是否被破坏。ASACUSA描迹仪是一种探测器,由两层各32根塑料闪烁体条组成,每根两端各由两只串联的硅光电倍增管(SiPM)独立读出。原先用于沿束轴方向位置分辨的另外两层为闪烁体光纤,现将被替换为置于现有闪烁条上的闪烁砖,同样由SiPM读出。若反氢的反质子在描迹仪中心湮灭,会产生粒子(主要为介子)并穿过探测器的各层从而产生信号。该描迹仪在CERN上一轮取数期间成功使用。利用波形数字化仪与软件恒比甄别,实现了区分从外部穿过探测器的粒子与在探测器中心产生粒子的必要时间分辨。该读出方案的缺点是读出速度慢,其速度提升了两个数量级。这是通过省略数字化仪并以TDC读取使用前沿甄别的数字时间过阈(ToT)信号来实现的。
