Seyfert 银河的统一模型：所有 Seyfert 2 银河都相等吗？

基于对来自 CfA 和 12 微米样本中 Seyfert 2 银河 (S2) 的大型光谱极化调查 (主要在 Lick 和 Palomar 观测台进行)，我们发现具备隐藏广角光谱层 (HBLR) 的 S2 与非 HBLR S2 在本质上更强大。HBLR S2 中 BLR 的正检测很大程度上归因于隐藏 AGN 核的本征强度，而非核消光较低或星系中心星际暴风主导度较低。在本质上，HBLR S2 在许多大尺度特征上与 Seyfert 1 银河 (S1) 相似，这正如统一模型所预期的那样；而非 HBLR S2 则 generally 不然。这些结果强有力地表明，并非所有 S2 在本质上都相似，HBLR S2 可能是正常 S1 的唯一对应天体。
