外部星系中超亮X射线源(ULXs)的X射线光度比我们银河系中最亮黑洞的光度高数百到数千倍,其起源是神秘的。关于ULXs最流行的模型涉及中等质量黑洞(IMBHs)或以超爱丁顿吸积率吸积的恒星质量黑洞。在此我们回顾ULX性质,它们的X射线谱表明在其吸积盘中存在热风,假设为超临界吸积。然而,最强的证据来自光学光谱。ULX对应体的光谱与SS 433(我们银河系中唯一已知的超临界吸积体)非常相似。
