建模是科学与工程中的核心议题。然而，我们需要一种新的基本理论来应对数字时代的挑战。本文首先解释了为何建模是根本的以及在数字世界中必须面对的挑战。作为主要贡献，我们引入了赫拉克利特建模框架作为一种新的建模方法。我们随后给出一些一般性的看法。未来的工作将涉及建模的正确性、信息的概念，以及建模中的不变性描述。
