我们在两种液态金属的界面处提供了热电效应的实验证据。通过在室温下的圆柱容器中叠加汞和镓层,我们提供了沿液态-液态界面存在热梯度时产生的电流的直接测量。在两种液体的界面处,由热对流引起的温度梯度导致电流形成复杂的几何结构,最终在边界附近产生的电流密度显著高于传统固态热电效应中观察到的密度。当对实验施加磁场时,会生成一个呈螺旋流动的流体,其在每一层中呈现相反的循环。 Depending on the value of the magnetic field, two different flow regimes are identified, in good agreement with a model based on the spatial distribution of thermoelectric currents, which has no equivalent in solid systems. Finally, we discuss various applications of this new effect, such as the efficiency of liquid metal batteries.
