摘要
预计红矢星 (red clump giants) 的 I 波段绝对星等 M_I^RC 随着恒星年龄和金属丰度的变化而产生约 0.4 mag 的波动。这并不考虑潜在的理论不确定性。由于红矢星在不同星系中的平均年龄和金属丰度差异较大，系统性变化（也可达约 0.4 mag）体现在其 M_I^RC 中。这些数值还表明，往往不必将赫鲁伯星际云 (LMC) 的距离缩短。
