在过去十年的多个观测期（2001-2002 年和 2008-2009 年）中，XMM-Newton 对 Chandra Deep Field South (CDF-S) 进行了总计约 3 Ms 的观测。此次巡天的主要目标是获得产生 X 射线背景主要成分的 AGN 的高质量 X 射线光谱。我们将介绍 XMM-Newton 巡天的科学亮点，并简要讨论利用现有和即将建成的 X 射线设施继续开展 XMM 深度巡天科学研究的未来观测前景。
