1997 年 2 月，日本射电天文卫星 Halca 发射升空，为 VSOP 任务提供空间天文台元素。约有四分之一的任务时间用于 VSOP 调查，这是一项对亮且紧凑的 AGN 的 5 GHz 调查。已准备好并提交了前 102 个源的最终校准高分辨率图像以及可见度幅度随 uv 距离的图表。关于拟合累积 {\em uv} �幅度的方法和模型的论文也将提交。后半部分的分析正在进行中。
