摘要

我们展示了朝向银河南极的 770 颗厚盘红巨星的径向速度测量结果，这些恒星在垂直于银道面方向上分布于 0.5 kpc 至 5 kpc 之间。我们发现垂直速度弥散 ( $\sigma_W$ ) 存在一个较小的梯度，为 3.8+/-0.8 km/s kpc。更值得注意的是，我们的 $\sigma_W$ 值相较于文献值较小：在垂直高度范围的中间位置，我们发现 $\sigma_W(z=2\text{kpc})=30$ km/s。我们就样本受薄盘恒星污染、金属丰度分布假设错误以及推导距离错误等方面，均未找到能解释这一较小 $\sigma_W$ 值的可能原因。
