NGC 4278 低亮度活动性星系核的双面秒尺结构

我们呈现 NGC 4278 这颗 LINER 星系的全波长基线干涉仪观测，线性分辨率小于 0.1 pc。我们的射电数据揭示了双面结构，具有对称的 S 形喷流从平坡谱核中涌出。通过比较两个时代中成分的位置，我们测得对应于 apparent velocities < 0.2 c 的运动，并对应于 8.3 - 65.8 年的年龄。从我们的测量结果推断，NGC 4278 具有轻偏向相对论的喷流（beta 约等于 0.75），且与视线紧密重合（2° < theta < 4°）。我们还呈现了该源 1972 年至 2003 年的flux密度历史。所有这些论点表明，NGC 4278 的低功率射电辐射通过由超大质量黑洞加速的相对论性粒子发射的同步辐射过程。
