大多数尘埃风都由单个独立变量的相似函数集合描述，该变量可选为视觉光的总体光学深度。自相似性意味着系统参数之间存在普遍的比例关系，与观测结果一致。尘埃通过气体的漂移对大多数风的结构影响显著。
