L 型恒星中甲烷的出现

摘要
我们检测到在 3.3 微米处由强 nu(3) 甲烷带产生的弱吸收特征，分别作用于两颗 L 型恒星：2MASSW J1507476-162738 和 2MASSI J0825196+211552，这两颗恒星分别被 Kirkpatrick 等人 (2000) 分类为 L5 和 L7.5 型。这些吸收发生在此前任何检测到甲烷的温暖天体中，标志着甲烷在超低温恒星到棕矮星光谱序列中的首次出现。
