氡核中振动梨形的观测:更新

摘要

大量证据表明原子核可发生八极形变并呈现梨形。该现象对于原子电偶极矩的测量十分重要,后者将指示CP破坏,从而探测粒子物理标准模型之外的物理。氡和镭的同位素均已被确定为此类测量的候选核。在此,我们通过加速这些放射性核束观测了224^{224}Rn和226^{226}Rn中的低能量子态。我们在此报告了2019年发表物中未指认的附加态。我们表明氡同位素经历八极振动,但在其基态中不具有静态梨形。我们得出结论:氡原子为可测原子电偶极矩的增强提供了较不利的条件。
