在 2006 年和 2011 年两次主要爆发之后，2017 年 5 月 16 日，位于大质量星团 Westerlund I 中的磁星 CXOU J164710.2-455216 发射了一个短（20 ms）爆发，标志着一个新活动相的开始。我们从激活开始直到 2018 年 4 月，用 Swift（45 次观测）、Chandra（5 次观测）和 NuSTAR（4 次观测）开展了长期监测活动。在监测期间，Swift BAT 记录到多次爆发的发生，并伴有另外两次 X 射线持久辐射的增强。我们观测所覆盖的长时标使我们能够研究该源的能谱以及计时演化。自 2017 年 5 月爆发开始 11 个月后，观测到的流量约为其历史最低水平的 15 倍，且比 2006 年爆发后达到的水平高 3 倍。这表明星壳尚未完全弛豫到宁静水平，或者该源的宁静水平在过去约 10 年的多次爆发活动后已发生改变。这是同一源在年尺度上多次爆发的又一案例，这是磁星中最近才发现的一种行为。
