Palomar 1是一颗异常的银河全球星团，疑似年龄低于银河暗面天体的大部分。然而，只有在可靠确定金属丰度后，才能确认其年龄。本文使用中分辨率光谱中Ca II三角线的等效宽度（W）来确定Pal 1的金属含量。通过将Pal 1中四颗星 luminosity 校正后W值与三组校准星团（M2、M15和M71）中星体的W值进行比较，我们推导出[Fe/H]=-0.6+/-0.2（基于Zinn & West, 1984）或[Fe/H]=-0.7+/-0.2（基于Carretta & Gratton, 1997）。我们还获得Pal 1的径向速度Vr=-82.8+/-3.3 km/s。
