来自最高质量红超巨星前身星的最低金属丰度 II 型超新星

摘要

红超巨星已被确认为大多数富氢 II 型超新星的前身星。然而,尽管观测到质量 >25M_⊙ 的此类恒星,对 >18M_⊙ 前身星的探测仍然难以实现。红超巨星也预期在所有金属丰度下形成,但来自低金属丰度前身星的爆发发现很少。在此,我们报告 II 型超新星 SN 2015bs 的观测,通过与会照片期光谱模型比较推断其前身星金属丰度 ≤0.1Z_⊙,并通过与星云期光谱模型比较得到零龄主序质量 17-25M_⊙。SN 2015bs 显示正常的“平台”光变曲线形态和典型光谱性质,意味着一个红超巨星前身星。这是“正常” II 型超新星具有如此高质量前身星的首个例子,暗示高质量红超巨星爆发与低金属丰度前身星之间存在联系。
