LOFAR脉冲星和快速射电瞬变源先导巡天

我们使用低频阵列(LOFAR)在140 MHz附近进行了两次射电脉冲星和快速瞬变源的先导巡天,并在此报告第一个低频快速射电暴上限以及两颗新脉冲星的发现。第一次巡天,LOFAR脉冲星先导巡天(LPPS),观测了北天大部分区域,约1.4 x 10^4平方度,每次驻留1小时。每次观测覆盖约75平方度,使用7个由高波段天线场非相干求和形成的独立场。第二次先导巡天,LOFAR绑定阵列巡天(LOTAS),覆盖约600平方度,灵敏度比LPPS提高约5倍。使用6个LOFAR "Superterp"站的相干求和,我们形成了19个绑定阵列波束,每次指向覆盖4平方度。从LPPS我们得到142 MHz处色散射电暴的发生率上限为< 150 /天/天空,对于最窄搜索脉冲宽度0.66 ms,亮度S > 107 Jy的暴。在LPPS中,我们重新探测到65颗已知脉冲星。LOTAS发现了两颗脉冲星,这是LOFAR或任何数字孔径阵列首次发现脉冲星。LOTAS还重新探测到27颗已知脉冲星。这些先导研究表明,LOFAR可以高效地进行全天空脉冲星和快速瞬变源巡天,并为后续使用LOFAR和计划中的平方公里阵列低频组件的巡天工作奠定了基础。
