摘要

甚大阵列巡天(VLASS)是一项具有独特组合特征的巡天、全天空射电巡天:高角分辨率(\approx2.5")、高灵敏度(在叠加数据中1σ\sigma目标为70 μ\muJy/beam)、全线性Stokes偏振测量、时域覆盖以及宽带宽(2-4 GHz)。首次观测始于2017年9月,巡天观测将于2024年完成。VLASS将使用Karl G. Jansky甚大阵列(VLA)约5500小时的时间来覆盖VLA可见的整个天空(赤纬>40>-40^{\circ}),总计33,885 deg2^2。数据将在三个历元采集,以发现变源与暂现射电源。该巡天旨在吸引射电天文专家、多波段天文学家以及公民科学家共同参与。通过采用“on the fly”干涉测量模式,观测开销相比传统定点巡天大幅降低。在本文中,我们给出该巡天的科学目标与观测策略,以及早期巡天观测的结果。
