作为哈勃深场南方计划的一部分,获得了对深场相邻区域的若干次短时 2 轨道观测。WFPC2 外围场域覆盖连续的 48 平方弧分钟的连续视角。使用 STIS 和 NICMOS 仪器进行的平行观测产生了额外场域的拼图,包含光学和近红外 (1.6 微米) 响应。当 STIS 观测 NICMOS 深场时获得的更深平行曝光与其余部分错位,深场 WFPC2 外围场域中可见一条延伸的低表面亮度天体。在本数据论文中,作为项目的档案记录,我们讨论了观测与数据减工,并呈现了从数据中派生的 SExtractor 源目录和星系数目统计。数目统计与来自地面和太空的先前调查结果基本一致。这些外围场域观测对于定义深场周围更大范围内的光谱跟踪光掩模、研究超越深场的大尺度结构、进行未来超新星搜索、以及进行数目统计和形态学研究都很有用,但其最终效用将取决于天文学界的实际应用。
