HOSTS系外黄道尘巡天:完整巡天的观测结果

摘要

大双筒望远镜干涉仪(LBTI)可在 N 波段(8 至 13 微米)进行零化干涉观测,以抑制恒星强光并探测微弱的星周辐射。我们展示并对 LBTI/HOSTS(Hunt for Observable Signatures of Terrestrial Systems,宜居系统可观测特征搜寻)系外黄道尘巡天的结果进行统计分析。通过将测量值与基于太阳系黄道尘在 N 波段的模型预测相比较,我们估计早期型星的中值灵敏度为 23 zodis(1 sigma),类太阳星为 48 zodis,其中 1 zodi 为太阳系宜居带(HZ)尘埃的表面密度。在观测的 38 颗恒星中,10 颗显示显著 excess。我们发现探测结果与被测系统的冷尘埃存在明显相关性,但与恒星光谱型或年龄无关。大多数类太阳星的 HZ 尘埃水平相对较低(最佳拟合中值:3 zodis,1 sigma 上限:9 zodis,95% 置信度:27 zodis,基于我们的 N 波段测量),而约 20% 尘埃明显更多。太阳系的 HZ 尘埃含量与典型情况一致。我们的中值 HZ 尘埃水平不会成为直接成像搜寻类地系外行星的主要限制,但仍需更精确的约束,特别是评估系外黄道尘对成像系外地球候选体光谱表征的影响。
