基于525颗L、T和Y型矮星全天空20秒差距普查的场亚恒星质量函数

摘要

我们给出了361颗L、T和Y型矮星的斯皮策(Spitzer)三角视差最终结果。我们将这些结果与先前研究相结合,构建了一份位于太阳20秒差距内的525颗已知L、T和Y型矮星列表,其中38颗为本文首次给出。利用已发表的光度与光谱以及我们自己的后续观测,我们展示了一系列颜色-星等图和颜色-颜色图以进一步表征普查成员,并给出了整体趋势的多项式拟合。利用这些表征,我们为每颗天体赋予一个TeffT_{\rm eff}值,并判断样本在TeffT_{\rm eff}和光谱型分箱上的完备性。除类型\geT8且Teff<T_{\rm eff} <600K外,我们的普查在20秒差距极限内统计完备。我们将测得的空间密度与模拟密度分布进行比较,发现最佳拟合为幂律(dN/dMMαdN/dM \propto M^{-\alpha}),其中α=0.6±0.1\alpha = 0.6{\pm}0.1。我们发现Saumon与Marley的演化模型正确预测了在1200K <Teff<< T_{\rm eff} < 1350K处观测到的空间密度尖峰幅度,该尖峰被认为是由L/T转变期间冷却时标增大所致。利用该样本定义低质量端需要统计上更稳健且更完备的\geY0.5型、且Teff<T_{\rm eff} <400K的矮星样本。我们得出结论:尽管迄今仅识别出少数此类极冷天体,但它们必然大量存在,并讨论了其大体上逃避探测的可能原因。
