费伊-利奥波蒂项的大小在Type-I弦理论和Horava-Witten M理论紧化中被计算，其中存在伪反常的U(1)_X。与各种猜想相反，在弱耦合的M理论或Type-I极限的微扰展开的一阶阶，所得结果与弱耦合的E_8xE_8非对角弦理论相同。该结果不依赖于Type-I弦尺度或M理论11维尺寸的选择，仅依赖于牛顿常数和统一规范耦合。
