电子散射区(ESR)是Seyfert星系中重要组成部分，因为它使得在某些类型2 Seyfert星系(以下简称S2)中观察到隐藏的宽线区(以下简称HBLR)成为可能。然而，关于其物理和几何性质鲜有了解。利用S2中有无HBLR的数量比率，我们对Seyfert星系中的ESR位置进行统计分析。我们的分析表明，ESR位于约0.01 pc到0.1 pc范围内的中心发动机附近。我们还简要讨论了ESR的可能来源。
