摘要
我们回顾了对活动星系核遮蔽区域最基本性质的认识——其位置、尺度、对称性和平均覆盖因子——并讨论了基于WISE、UKIDSS和SDSS测光数据约9000个类星体样本中覆盖因子分布的新证据。活动星系核的遮蔽区域在某些方面可能比我们想象的更复杂——多尺度、非对称、混沌——而在另一些方面则更简单——与光度无关，且覆盖因子分布可能由最简单的考虑决定，例如随机错位。
