Vela 超新星残留体的距离测量

摘要
我们对Vela 超新星残留体方向上的68颗OB星获得了高分辨率的Ca II和Na I吸收线光谱。这些星体的距离范围为190至2800 pc，依据Hipparcos和光谱相对数距离估计得出。在某些视线上检测到高速吸收特征，可归因于该残留体，从而将残留体的距离限制在250+/-30 pc。这一距离值与最近几项研究相符——后者表明标准的残留体距离(500 pc)显得过大。
