暗能量巡天暂现源搜寻的差分图像处理管线

摘要

我们描述了用于在暗能量巡天超新星计划(DES-SN)首个观测季(2013年8月至2014年2月)的深场图像中探测暂现源的差分图像处理管线(DiffImg)。DES-SN是一项暂现源搜寻项目,其中对十个3平方度的天区在g、r、i、z波段以约一周的节奏重复观测。该观测策略已优化,旨在为数千颗Ia型超新星(SN Ia)测量高质量光变曲线和红移,以测量暗能量参数。DiffImg的核心功能是将每幅搜索图像与一幅深场参考图像对齐,进行逐像素相减,然后检查相减后的图像中是否存在显著的点源目标正探测。绝大多数探测结果为相减伪影,但经过筛选要求和自动化扫描程序的图像滤波后,每个波段每次观测每平方度有130个探测结果,其中仅25%为伪影。在DES-SN首个观测季发现的7500个暂现源中(每个暂现源需在至少两个独立夜晚被探测到),蒙特卡洛模拟预测27%为超新星。另有30%的暂现源为伪影,其余大部分为活动星系核和变星。我们将模拟Ia型超新星叠加到图像上,以严格评估探测效率并理解DiffImg的性能。利用模拟超新星测得的DiffImg效率与基于通量及其不确定度解析计算的蒙特卡洛模拟预期值吻合良好。在我们8个单次曝光50%完备深度为23.5等的“浅”场中,Ia型超新星效率在红移z≈0.7处降至1/2;在我们2个星等深度为24.5等的“深”场中,效率在z≈1.1处降至1/2。
