摘要
目前已确认的褐矮星数量超过700颗。然而，我们对这些低温天体的理解仍然不足，模型也难以准确再现观测结果。我们需要一种校准模型的方法，那些性质（如年龄、质量、距离、金属丰度）可独立确定的褐矮星能够提供这样的校准。如果我们要能够测量未来近期的巡天将揭示的更暗、更远的褐矮星族群的性质（对于这些天体，地面光谱研究将变得越来越困难），那么基于可观测量的性质计算能力将至关重要。我们在此介绍当前年龄基准褐矮星族群的状态。
