零色散与磁存储环中平面极化寿命延长之间的联系

摘要

本文展示了在磁存储环中,通过设置附加六极场使 x 和 y 方向色散消失,与最大化 0.97-GeV/c 氘核束流平面极化(IPP)寿命之间的联系。IPP 幅度通过连续监测束流内碳靶极化仪中的上下散射不对称性(对侧向极化敏感),并解卷由氘核磁异常引起的 IPP 进动来测量。通过扫描存储环六极磁铁组的场强并观察束流存储期间的 IPP 损失率,确定了实现长 IPP 寿命的最佳运行条件。束流经过聚束和电子冷却。IPP 损失似乎源于单个粒子在束流中的横向贝特龙振荡导致的轨道周长变化,进而引起粒子速度和自旋调谐的变化。这些变化的影响可通过适当的六极场设置予以抵消。
