ASKAP共时实时快速瞬变源巡天(CRAFT)

摘要

我们正在开发一种针对快速(<5s)瞬变射电源的纯共时巡天实验。短时标瞬变源与宇宙中最高能和最亮的单次事件相关联。我们的目标是覆盖ASKAP所提供的巨大瞬变源参数空间,并具备前所未有的灵敏度与视场组合。快时标瞬变源为高亮温度辐射物理、物质极端状态及强引力场物理开启了新视野。此外,河外天体的探测为我们提供了一种全新且极其灵敏的探针,用于探测星系际介质(IGM)中存在的巨大重子库。我们在此概述了探测快速瞬变源所面临的巨大挑战的应对方法,特别是开发速度足够快的硬件,以近实时或实时的速率对ASKAP数据流进行消色散和搜索。通过CRAFT,ASKAP将为SKA高时间分辨率科学提出的许多关键技术和巡天模式提供测试床。
