我们描述了在红外波长下观测到的极晚热脉冲天体周围碳尘埃壳层的演化。这包括对 Sakurai's object（Olivier 对此做出了开创性贡献）和 FG Sge 周围尘埃演化长达 20 年的概述。极晚热脉冲可能发生在多达 25% 的太阳质量恒星的生命终点，因此可能为我们提供太阳可能命运的一瞥。
