Carina dSph 星系：边缘在哪里？

最近的宇宙学 N 体模拟建议，当前对 dSph 星系洞穴半径的经验估计可能低估至少一个数量级。为约束这一理论框架的可行性，我们对 Carina dSph 进行了多光段 (U,B,V,I) 调查。来自多个位于 Carina 中心径向距离范围 0.5 到 4.5 度处的深 B,V 数据显示， faint blue 对象的一大样本，其magnitude和color与跨越中心检测到的旧的, 末期星相同。我们发现 (U-V,B-I) 色-色平面是分割星体与背景星系的稳健诊断工具。不幸的是，当前的 U,I 带数据过浅，无法坚定地约束 Carina 的真实范围。
