摘要
中子星的核心拥有自然界中已知的最高物质密度,可达原子核密度的数倍。同样,磁场强度可超过地面实验室产生的最大磁场十个数量级。中子星内部预言存在以超子为主的物质、退禁闭夸克物质、超流性,甚至超导性。类似地,量子电动力学预言,在强磁场中真空会变得双折射。这种条件下物质的属性由量子色动力学(QCD)和量子电动力学(QED)支配,而对中子星属性的深入研究为在完全超出地面实验所能及的区域测试和探索QCD与QED的丰富内涵提供了独特机遇。实验上,这几乎是一片处女地。
