摘要

FASERnu 是一个提议的小型且廉价的乳胶探测器,旨在首次探测对撞机中微子并研究其性质。FASERnu 将直接位于 FASER 前方,沿束流碰撞轴距 ATLAS 相互作用点 480 m,处于未使用的服务隧道 TI12 中。在 2021-23 年 14 TeV LHC 的 Run 3 期间,约 1300 个电子中微子、20000 个缪子中微子和 20 个陶子中微子将在 FASERnu 中以 TeV 量级能量发生相互作用。凭借观测这些相互作用、重建其能量并区分味的能力,FASERnu 将探测人类有史以来最高人造能量下的中微子产生、传播和相互作用。FASERnu 探测器将由 1000 层乳胶层与钨板交替组成。乳胶和钨的总体积为 25cm x 25cm x 1.35m,钨靶质量为 1.2 吨。2021-23 年间将安装 7 套乳胶层,在计划的技术停机期间大约每 20-50 1/fb 更换一次。本文档中,我们总结 FASERnu 的物理目标并讨论中微子通量与相互作用率的估计。然后我们详细描述 FASERnu 探测器,包括组装、运输、安装和乳胶更换计划,以及乳胶读出和数据分析流程。我们以探测器组件与基础设施工作的成本估算及实验时间线作结。
