MoEDAL探测超对称粒子的发现前景

摘要
我们提出一项初步研究,探讨在MoEDAL探测器上搜寻大质量长寿命带电粒子的可能性。MoEDAL对磁单极子或大质量(亚)稳定带电粒子等强电离物体敏感,本文重点关注后者。由于MoEDAL完全不同的探测器设计和极低本底,ATLAS和CMS用于长寿命粒子分析中所要求的触发或降低宇宙射线与洞穴本底的条件在MoEDAL中并非必要。另一方面,MoEDAL要求慢速运动粒子,因而对通常具有较小产生截面的大质量态敏感。利用蒙特卡洛模拟,我们比较了MoEDAL与ATLAS/CMS在超对称模型中针对各类长寿命粒子的灵敏度,并寻找MoEDAL可提供对ATLAS和CMS互补的发现覆盖范围的情景。
