暗能量巡天中发现的恒星流

摘要
我们利用暗能量巡天(DES)前三年的多波段光学成像数据,在银河系周围搜寻恒星流。我们使用 DES 覆盖 平方度、深度达 、相对测光定标不确定度 的数据。该数据集对南天恒星密度场具有前所未有的灵敏度,可探测到日心距离约 kpc 的暗弱恒星流。我们采用由古老、贫金属恒星族的合成等龄线导出的颜色–星等空间匹配滤波器搜寻恒星流。我们的探测技术恢复了四条已知薄恒星流:Phoenix、ATLAS、Tucana III,以及 Molonglo 的可能延展。此外,我们报告了十一条新恒星流的发现。总体而言,DES 探测到的新流比先前测光巡天中用类似技术探测的流更暗、更远且面亮度更低。作为恒星流搜寻的副产物,我们发现与四个球状星团 NGC 288、NGC 1261、NGC 1851 和 NGC 1904 相关的潮汐外恒星结构证据。不断增长的恒星流样本将深化对银河系恒星晕形成、银河系引力势以及银河系周围暗物质大尺度和小尺度分布的理解。
