STACEE 是一个基于日光能源研究建造的日赤道仪数组阵列，用来探测由 gamma 射线引发的大气喷发浪列的大气 Cherenkov 辐射。2001 年上半年，使用原型探测器 STACEE-48 探测了处于高度活跃状态的 blazar Markarian 421。2001 年 3 月至 5 月的观测给出了能量大于 140+/-20 GeV 时的积分通量为 (8.0+/-0.7_{stat}+/-1.5_{sys})x 10^-10 1/cm^2/s，并在 GeV 和 X 射线波段提供了在数周以上的时间尺度上存在相关趋势的一些证据。
