对赤道以外（|b| > 10度）高 Galactic 纬度处Hα发射测度和脉冲星位移测度的观测，提供了关于diffuse温暖 ionized 中介（WIM）密度和分布的信息。diffuse WIM的EM sin|b|呈对数正态分布，这与通过等温湍流建立的密度结构相符。负责大多数高EM sin|b|视线上发射的H+在密度>0.1 cm^{-3}的区域中被聚集，这些区域仅沿视线占据几光年，而H+在低EM视线上的H+则占据数百光年，密度明显较低。
