SPIRITS:利用斯皮策望远镜揭示不寻常的红外暂现源

我们介绍一项正在进行、系统的河外红外暂现源搜寻,称为 SPIRITS——斯皮策红外密集暂现源巡天(SPitzer InfraRed Intensive Transients Survey)。在第一年,使用 Spitzer/IRAC,我们搜寻了190个邻近星系,节奏基线为一个月和六个月。我们发现超过1958个变星和43个暂现源。此处,我们描述巡天设计,并突出14个不寻常的红外暂现源,它们在深极限下无光学对应体,我们称之为 SPRITEs(特别红的中等光度暂现事件,eSPecially Red Intermediate Luminosity Transient Events)。SPRITEs 位于新星和超新星之间的红外光度间隙,其 [4.5] 绝对星等在 -11 到 -14 (Vega-mag) 之间,[3.6]-[4.5] 颜色在 0.3 mag 到 1.6 mag 之间。SPRITEs 的光度演化多样,范围从 < 0.1 mag/yr 到 > 7 mag/yr。SPRITEs 出现在恒星形成星系中。我们对其中的一个,位于梅西耶83中的 SPIRITS 14ajc,进行了深入研究,其显示出激波激发的分子氢发射。该激波可能由大质量恒星的非层级系统的动力学衰变触发,导致双星形成或原恒星合并。
