低频空间甚长基线干涉测量

摘要
在足够低的频率下,任何地基射电阵列都无法在透过电离层观测时产生高分辨率图像。需要天基阵列来探索在最低射电频率下主导天空的天体与过程。基于大量小型、廉价卫星的成像射电干涉仪,能够追踪与日冕物质抛射相关的太阳射电暴直至地球距离,确定星系中早期非热活动阶段的频率与持续时间,并提供关于星际介质的独特信息。这将是一项“空间-空间”甚长基线干涉测量(VLBI)任务,因为仅使用卫星之间的基线。角分辨率将仅受星际与行星际散射的限制。
