本稿旨在为非专家用户提供赫氏星目录的“粗略指南”。讨论了天文测量数据使用的一般方面以及赫氏专用应用。我们讨论了在何处以及以何种程度上可以预期在赫氏星目录中出现系统误差。接着讨论了将测量的视差解释为星星距离和光度的问题。应当注意哪些偏差以及如何进行校正？在使用天文测量数据研究星星统计时，必须考虑测量参数误差的完整协方差矩阵。我们解释了如何做到这一点，并讨论了移动星团的具体案例。最后，我们讨论了天文测量参数在给定天空区域内的相关性问题。目前，赫氏星目录中不存在已识别的系统误差。
