卡鲁扎-克莱因(KK)轴子出现在具有额外维的理论中,作为 Peccei-Quinn 轴子的较高质量、显著更短寿命的激发态。当它们在太阳中产生时,将被引力俘获于太阳系中,而其衰变为一对光子或可解释日冕加热问题。低密度探测器可通过识别两个光子相互作用点的分离,将此类信号与本底区分。NEWS-G 合作组使用大体积球形正比计数器,即充气的金属球,中心带有球形阳极。在 SEDINE 探测器 42 天运行期间观测到单个类轴子事件后,对于地球上 KK 轴子密度 及大小为 的两个额外维,设定了轴子-光子耦合 的 置信度上限。
