发现位于z = 2.169的BAL QSO

我们报告了3C 48 Southwest 41''处发现的BAL QSO,其红移为z = 2.169。我们采用Keck LRIS光谱仪覆盖波长范围为1500 A至2300 A。C IV BAL具有三个分量,最高流出速度至少为12,000 km/s。该BAL QSO在z = 1.667处有一个介入的低离子金属线吸收系统,可能是damped Ly-alpha吸收器。HST图像显示QSO周围有延伸的亮度物质,这可能是主机星系或介入系统。
