第三观测运行中先进LIGO探测器的灵敏度与性能

2019年4月1日,先进激光干涉引力波天文台(aLIGO)与先进Virgo探测器一同开始了第三次观测运行,即长达一年的引力波专项搜寻。LIGO探测器实现了前所未有的更高占空比以及对引力波更强的灵敏度:LIGO汉福德对双中子星并合的 angle-averaged 灵敏度达 111 Mpc,LIGO利文斯顿达 134 Mpc,占空比分别为 74.6% 和 77.0%。灵敏度与稳定性的提升源于对探测器的若干升级,包括腔内功率翻倍、增设用于压缩光注入的真空内光学参量振荡器、更换核心光学元件与端部反作用质量块,以及安装声学模式阻尼器。本文探讨了这些升级背后的目的,并尽可能解释了当前限制各探测器灵敏度的噪声来源。
