记录于2021至2026年的Starlink VisorSats星等magnitude显示亮度增加了0.6个星等，而OneWeb的星等则显示暗淡0.4个星等。两种趋势在3个σ水平上具有显著性。这一研究基于由MMT9机器人观测台记录的160万个星等magnitude。
