摘要
宽视场巡天望远镜(WFST)是由中国科学技术大学与紫金山天文台联合建造的专用测光巡天设施。它配备2.5米口径主镜、主动光学系统,以及位于主焦平面上由0.73吉像素组成的拼接CCD相机,可在6.5平方度视场(FOV)上获取高质量图像。预计WFST将于2023年夏季在冷湖台址建成,并在三个月后开始以多种节奏观测北天,从深场高节奏巡天(DHS)计划的每小时/每天,到宽视场巡天(WFS)计划的半周一次,覆盖四个光学波段(u、g、r、i)。在测光夜,WFS计划中30秒标称曝光将分别达到22.27、23.32、22.84和22.31(AB星等)的深度,从而能够探测低红移宇宙中大量暂现源,并系统研究银河系与河外天体的变异性。在DHS计划中,夜内核级90秒曝光可达23(u)与24(g)星等深度,结合机会目标后随观测,将为探索需高灵敏度的剧烈暂现源提供独特机遇,包括引力波事件电磁对应体、爆炸后数小时的超新星、潮汐撕裂事件,以及红移甚至超过1的快速明亮光学暂现源。此外,预计6年叠加的最终图像在WFS中可达g=25.8星等、在DHS中再深1.5星等,对一般银河系与河外科学具有根本重要性。WFST高度均匀的遗留巡天将作为监测南天的LSST巡天不可或缺的补充。
