本报告总结了Hi-ReX科学分析小组关于超高角分辨率X射线天文台的潜在研究。报告提出了许多潜在的科学案例,涵盖从太阳系行星和系外行星到超大质量黑洞和宇宙学等一系列天体物理课题。这些案例证明了X射线成像超越当前能力、面向毫角秒和微角秒角尺度的价值。目前,最好的X射线成像望远镜——钱德拉X射线天文台的能力与电磁波谱中其他仪器相比存在成像差距。下一代超高角分辨率X射线成像将弥合这一差距,并改变我们对宇宙和基础物理的理解。
