RHIC 低能挑战与计划

摘要

出于对 QCD 相变临界点的搜寻动机,人们对 sNN=\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5--50 GeV 能区的 RHIC 重离子碰撞产生了浓厚兴趣。该搜寻所需的最低能量远低于 RHIC 金束流标称注入碰撞能量 sNN=19.6\sqrt{s_{NN}}=19.6 GeV。在此能区,RHIC 运行面临若干挑战,包括纵向接受度、磁场品质、晶格控制以及亮度监测。我们报告了应对这些挑战的工作进展,包括利用质子和金束流进行的低能 RHIC 运行束流测试结果,以及不同束流冷却方案带来的潜在改进。
