EUSO项目下ULTRA实验结果

摘要

在与荧光光同时发生延迟联动信号中探测到电离宇宙射线(EAS)的Cherenkov光,能够强有力地表明质子和中子在宇宙射线中的区分。为此目的,ULTRA实验设计了两个探测器:小型EAS阵列(ETscope)和包括广角(Belenos)和窄角(UVscope)Cherenkov光探测器的紫外光学装置。阵列测量初始射电 showers 的尺寸和到达方向,而紫外设备指向天顶和底部,用于确定直接和扩散联动Cherenkov光的数量。该信息将用于验证从太空探测由UHECRs产生的Cherenkov光的可能性,这将在国际空间站(ISS)上的EUSO实验中实现。
