星际介质与星形成:印度视角

摘要

尽管星形成过程研究已有数十年,但涉及的物理学许多重要方面仍未得到解决。红外、远红外和亚毫米波段的仪器进步显著改善了对星际介质(ISM)中导致星形成过程的理解。面向未来,像 JWST、ALMA 等仪器已经通过收集高分辨率高灵敏度数据为该主题做出了贡献,还有更多大型地面和太空级设施正在计划或建造中。印度有大量天文学家从事 ISM 和星形成相关研究。本白皮书由印度天文学会邀请撰写,以制定印度天文学的愿景文件。我们综述了印度在全球理解星形成过程方面的贡献,并提出需要在制造观测设施和理论前沿两方面聚焦开展工作,以提升印度研究在未来数十年内的影响力。
